Developer: Nintendo
The third game in the much celebrated Zelda series – The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is perhaps the most adventurous game that has been ever released. This game, developed by Nintendo, is set in SNES platform. Released in 1992, the game is inclusive of many game play features like dynamic environment multi-level dungeons, Master-Sword, and the hookshot. As a result of its re-release in 2002 (on GBA), the game came with several other innovative features such as multiplayer mode named Four Swords, which is first of its kind in the Zelda series. Again, it was re-released in 2007 on Nintendo’s Virtual Console Service for the Wii. The prime characters in the game are Link - a young boy living in a lone house with his uncle outside of Hyrule Castle, Princess Zelda – a descendant of the royal family of Hyrule who is captured by Agahnim and sealed away in a magical crystal atop the Death Mountain, Agahnim – an evil wizard, Ganon – the king of evil, Sahasrahla – an aged scholar, and Link’s uncle – a former knight of Hyrule Family. Filled with puzzles, secrets, and traps, the game’s storyline involves rescuing Princess Zelda as well as seven other maidens. It provides two options: one-player mode and the multiplayer game mode. In the one-player mode (the original), players assume the role of Link – the game’s central character, who in turn is required to search out master sword and travel to the Dark World to subdue Ganon and bring back peace to the land of Hyrule, on receiving a telepathic message from Zelda pleading to help. But in the case of multiplayer game mode (re-release), 2-4 players assume the roles of young adventurers who respond to the gauntlet thrown down to them from the Triforce. The game is advanced by conquering a series of dungeons, each of them with its own special items like hookshot and hammer. Link starts out to rescue the princess primarily with only three units of health, which is gradually increased by defeating dungeon bosses. The game is highly famed for its graphics, music, and game
play. Its graphic is superb, and boasts of beautiful landscapes, colourful
backgrounds, and excellent facial expressions. The All these aforesaid features have made this game one of the finest action Role Playing Games of all time. |
